Vulcan Works Timken Sealed Front Wheel Bearing Kit for Harley FXR, Dyna & Sportster
Upgrade your early Harley-Davidson front wheel from traditional tapered wheel bearings to modern sealed bearings with the Vulcan Works Sealed Front Wheel Bearing Kit. Designed specifically for narrow 1978-1999 Sportster, FXR and Dyna front wheels, this kit eliminates the need to pack grease, shim and periodically service the original tapered bearing setup.
This version features premium Timken-brand sealed wheel bearings for dependable performance and long service life. Vulcan Works engineered the conversion with the correct bearing press fit and internal spacing to match the original tapered-bearing wheel setup, allowing the bearings to press securely into the wheel without unnecessary modification to the existing axle spacers.
The kit also retains the use of external wheel seals for added protection against water, dirt and road debris. Once installed, the sealed bearings provide a simpler, lower-maintenance wheel bearing setup similar to later Harley-Davidson wheels.
Fitment
Fits narrow 1978-1999 Harley-Davidson front wheels originally equipped with tapered / Timken-style wheel bearings.
Harley-Davidson FXR: Fits compatible narrow front wheels used on FXR models within the applicable year range.
Harley-Davidson Dyna: Fits compatible Dyna front wheels through 1999, except FXDWG Wide Glide applications.
Harley-Davidson Sportster: Fits compatible narrow front wheels used on XL Sportster models within the applicable year range.
Does Not Fit: 1984-1999 Touring, Softail or FXDWG Wide Glide front wheels. Vulcan Works specifies a different bearing conversion kit for those wider front wheel applications.
Important: This kit converts the original tapered bearings to sealed bearings but does not by itself convert the wheel for installation on a 2000-Up motorcycle. Additional axle and rotor spacing components may be required when installing an early wheel on a later motorcycle.
