S&S 540G Gear Drive Cam Chest Kit for Water-Cooled Harley Milwaukee-Eight

Build a stronger, more precise Milwaukee-Eight cam chest with the S&S 540G Gear Drive Cam Chest Kit. Designed for compatible water-cooled Harley-Davidson M8 engines, this complete performance package combines the torque-focused S&S 540G camshaft with a billet cam support plate, high-capacity oil pump, gear-drive system, premium tappets, Quickee pushrods, chrome pushrod tubes and supporting valvetrain components.

The S&S 540G is designed for big-inch Milwaukee-Eight engines where strong acceleration and low-to-midrange torque are the priority. It is especially well suited for S&S 124" and 128" big-bore combinations, delivering the type of broad, usable power that works well in heavyweight Touring and performance bagger applications.

Converting to gear drive eliminates the factory cam chain and tensioner while providing more consistent cam timing. The included outer drive gears create a positive mechanical connection between the crankshaft and camshaft for riders looking for increased timing accuracy and a robust performance-oriented cam drive.

The S&S billet cam plate and high-flow oil pump further upgrade the M8 cam chest with increased feed and scavenge capacity, independent scavenge sections for the flywheel cavity and cam chest, debris screens and an adjustable pressure relief valve. Premium S&S tappets and billet tappet cuffs improve valvetrain stability for demanding high-lift and higher-RPM operation.

Touring: Fits select 2017-2026 water-cooled M8 Touring applications including compatible Ultra Limited, Road Glide, Road Glide Limited, Street Glide and related models.

CVO Touring: Fits select water-cooled CVO models including applicable CVO Limited, CVO Street Glide, CVO Road Glide, CVO Road Glide ST and CVO Road Glide RR applications.

Trike: Fits select water-cooled M8 Tri Glide and CVO Tri Glide applications.

VVT Applications: Current S&S supplier application data lists the kit for compatible M8 models equipped with VVT. Verify your exact year and model before ordering.

Engine Combination: The S&S 540G is designed around strong acceleration torque and is particularly well matched to 124" and 128" Milwaukee-Eight big-bore combinations.

Gear Drive Note: Crankshaft/pinion shaft runout should always be checked before installing a gear-drive cam system. Excessive runout can prevent proper gear-drive operation and may cause premature component wear.
