Shop the Icon Alliance Dark Helmet Now
The Alliance Dark Helmet has all of the options and features you'd
expect from Icon. If you want unique graphics, there are plenty of
options in the Alliance lineup, but if you want to keep it simple and
straightforward, you've got the Icon Alliance Dark. It offers plenty of
venting, a removable, washable liner and DOT/ECE approval. The Alliance
Dark comes in Matte Black and as a bonus, it also includes a Dark Smoke
shield along with the standard Clear shield. With free shipping and a
$150 price point, it's a tough value to beat on a well styled DOT and
ECE approved helmet with a pair of shields and a nice list of features.
The
Alliance weighs in at 3 lbs 11 oz in our size medium and it's quite
comfortable. I'm generally a fan of Icon when it comes to comfort and
fit, and their Hydradry moisture wicking liner has a nice amount of
cushion that also does the job to keep me cool. Another factor that
helps keep your head cool is that Icon loads up the Alliance with vents -
there's 5 air intakes and 5 exhaust ports built in. Upfront you'll find
a couple whisker mouth vents along with a closeable mouth vent. Move to
the top of the helmet and you get a pair of retractable intake ports
before moving to the back of the helmet where you'll find the exhaust
vents. It's a well considered construction that is designed to move air
while minimizing wind noise.
One thing to note about fitment is
the Icon Alliance Dark Helmet does have a more long-oval shape, which
means it's a narrower helmet so you may notice a tighter fit on the
sides. It's something to keep in mind, especially if you have a more
round head shape.
Back to the shields - you get two with your
purchase of the Alliance Dark, and Icon has plenty of options to add
more. There are lots of solid and gradient color options and with Icon's
quick-change Proshield system you'll be able to swap in fresh shields
with little trouble. The ProLock system also creates a good, tight seal
to keep out the elements, bugs, dirt and whatever else you may encounter
on your bike.
We think the styling of this helmet fits a large
variety of riders - from a V-Twin guy looking for a full-face helmet, to
a Sport Bike rider seeking a murdered-out look to your average,
everyday rider simply looking for a solid helmet. If you don't need the
advanced bells and whistles of a super lightweight helmet or one with
upgraded venting and advanced features, the Alliance is simply a great
choice at the $150 mark. Plus, we'll ship it fast and free anywhere in
the Continental United States.
