Restore dependable starting performance on your Harley-Davidson with the Drag Specialties Starter Solenoid Repair Kit. Designed for a wide range of Harley-Davidson Big Twin and Sportster models, this complete service kit provides the internal contacts, seals and related components needed to rebuild a worn starter solenoid without replacing the entire starter motor.

Starter solenoid contacts naturally wear over time as high electrical current passes through them each time the motorcycle is started. Worn or burned contacts can cause intermittent starting, a clicking starter, inconsistent engagement or a motorcycle that occasionally fails to crank even when the battery and starter motor are otherwise in good condition.

The Drag Specialties 79-1101 kit includes multiple contacts and gaskets to accommodate the different compatible Harley-Davidson starter configurations. Rebuilding the solenoid can restore proper electrical contact and starter engagement while allowing the existing starter motor to remain in service.

Fitment

Harley-Davidson Big Twin: Fits compatible 1989-2006 Big Twin models, except 2006 Dyna applications.

Touring: Fits select Evolution and Twin Cam Electra Glide, Tour Glide, Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide and related Touring models within the compatible year range.

Softail: Fits select 1989-2006 Softail models including Fat Boy, Heritage Softail Classic, Softail Standard, Softail Custom, Springer, Night Train, Deuce and related applications.

Dyna: Fits compatible 1991-2005 Dyna models including Sturgis, Daytona, Low Rider, Super Glide, Wide Glide and Dyna Convertible applications. Does not fit 2006 Dyna models.

FXR: Fits compatible late Evolution FXR applications using the applicable starter solenoid configuration.

Sportster: Fits compatible 1986-2022 XL Sportster models including 883, 1100 and 1200 applications. Does not apply to Revolution Max RH-series Sportster models.

OEM Reference: Replaces compatible Harley-Davidson OEM #31603-91 and #31604-91 applications.
