Race of Gentlemen Readies for 4th Year on Jersey Shore
The Race of Gentlemen is a throwback, a celebration paying homage to the vehicles, style and craftsmanship of yesteryear. Put on by the Oilers Car Club, the automotive carnival spans Friday, October 2 through Sunday, October 4 Saturday, October 10 - Sunday, October 11 (pushed back a week due to the potential of Hurricane Joaquin), and it’s been called 'The Greatest Race on Earth' for good reason.

Spectators are treated to a wide range of racing and entertainment. The event features unique exhibit vehicles, structured bracket racing for different classes, and grudge runs for bragging rights with one on one showdowns (think father vs. son, husband vs. wife, Indian vs. Harley). It's a three day blitz of all the speed and racing you can handle, and then some. The best part? It's a fun, communal atmosphere suitable for all ages.
While the spirit of the event is joyous, the unyielding dedication to authenticity should not be overlooked. TROG Founders and Oilers Car Club members Bobby Green and Meldon Stultz won't compromise, maintaining the highest standards possible for The Race of Gentlemen. Showcasing the best of the best brings out the top participants and raises the bar for new applicants every year, as each entry is hand selected by the members to run in the event.
From Stultz and Green, "We have always held a great appreciation for our American automotive heritage and the ingenuity of all those that came before us. From the engineering geniuses of the Industrial Revolution to the backyard mechanics that turned a set of tools and gumption into what we know as hotrodding today, the Race of Gentlemen was created to celebrate that rich and exciting history and our 'can do' spirit that made this country so great! We hope you share our passion for the past and will join us in this automotive carnival known as TROG!"
Oh yea, and aside from the races, there's plenty of time to hang out, party and make new friends at night. With the sweet fall weather and epic bikes and cars ripping down the beach, October is the perfect time to head down to Wildwood, NJ for the season's last roar at the shore.
