Icon Airform Helmet - Spring 2019
![]()
New for Spring 2019, Icon adds the Airform helmet to their lineup of lids. It boasts aggressive styling, modest functionality and a budget friendly price point. The Airform pulls some of its styling cues from both the Airframe Pro and the Airflite but at a much lower price point. You can pick up an Airform in either the Black, White or Rubatone finish for only $185. The Sacrosanct graphic is currently offered in three color ways and Icon managed to keep those at the $225 price point.

The Airform helmet from Icon is constructed of a polycarbonate shell with a DOT and ECE safety rating with a size run from XS-3XL, which should accommodate most riders. The Airform features a Long Oval head shape, so if you had an Icon Airmada, Alliance or Variant helmet and were looking for a replacement you should find the Airform has a similar fit.

The helmets come standard with a Dark Smoke Internal Drop Down Visor and clear Icon Optics Shield, which features a fog-free coating and optical clarity to provide you the best vision while riding. One surprise people might have when they look at this helmet is the venting setup. Icon advertises the venting as “continuous” mainly because the bottom chin vents do not have any type of closure system. The interior of the chin bar is simply a solid piece of vinyl like material with mesh inserts covering the vents – that’s it.
You do, however, have the ability to close off the vents on the top of the helmet with the exterior tab. For some riders this is not a big deal, especially if you have a tight budget and like the style. But for the riders that want more functionality or adjustability, check out some of the other Full Face options that might better suit your needs.

Internally the helmet features extensive venting channels to help pull the hot air through the lid and out one main rear exhaust vent. Like the rest of the Icon helmets, the Airform uses the Hydradry moisture wicking liner, which is removable and washable. It also features internal speaker cutouts that will accommodate most communication systems.
Icon is also introducing a new aspect of customization to your helmet. With the Icon Airform, you can choose your Optics Shield, Internal Dropshield and now the Rear Spoiler Color as well. With over 7 color options for each, you can take a plain white or black helmet and add pops of color to your liking. Removing the Rear Spoiler covers is not quite as easy as swapping out the shields. Once the old cover is removed, you can not reuse them. They are a one time use only since they use double sided tape to attach to the lid. We suggest using a towel and a screw driver to remove the old cover, taking care not to scratch the finish.
