The Highway 21 Marksman Flannel is another option in the trend of casually styled riding apparel that works on or off your bike.

Beneath the rugged outdoorsman look, you'll get a nice, soft cotton flannel with removable armor. If you didn't know better, you'd assume the Marksman was just your typical flannel overcoat - it's well styled and well cut for modern riders but has several features that put it over the top and make it a solid choice. Our model is 5' 10" 185 lbs with a 43" chest and the size medium was a little snug with the armor but overall fit pretty well. The action back shoulder expansion allows for flexibility and ease of movement while on the bike.

You’ll find removable CE armor as well as DuPont Kevlar fiber in the shoulder and elbow areas as well as removable PE armor in the back. As far as pockets go, the Marksman has you covered - with a pair of upper chest snap pockets for a little exterior storage and then inside you'll find a deep zipper pocket that can be used as a conceal carry pocket.

A pair of snaps let you adjust your arm openings if you need to roll them up or need some extra airflow, then move up to the collar and you'll have a couple buttons to keep the collar snapped down while you're on the road. The length of the front of the shirt gets a full YKK zipper with overlapping snaps plus a concealed bottom button to use while you’re not on the bike.

Open it up and you'll find a soft quilted full sleeve inner liner for a nice layer of comfort and a little insulation between you and the flannel itself. Since the liner is not removable, it may limit some summer riding use when the temperatures start to get over 90 degrees.

The Marksman provides a nice, classic look available in either a black and gray colorway or the red/black pattern we've focused on today. If you want options, you can layer the Marksman with the Highway 21 Blockade Vest or something similar. Flannels are classic and they go with just about anything, so it's always a good thing to have one or two in your arsenal.

Overall, Highway 21 put together a nice package with the Marksman Flannel - it's got adaptability for riders who don't want to roll in a jacket and at a $120 retail price point with included armor, it's a solid value as well.
