Cycle-Rama 483 Cam / SP Concepts Big Bore Exhaust - 2021 Harley Street Glide
Cycle-Rama 483 Cam Install & SP Concepts Big Bore Exhaust on a 2021 Harley-Davidson Street Glide
When it comes to unlocking real performance from a Milwaukee-Eight, cam selection matters. On this 2021 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, we installed the Cycle-Rama 483 camshaft and paired it with an SP Concepts Big Bore exhaust featuring their Pro Flo headers creating a setup focused on horsepower, throttle response, and aggressive street performance without compromising ride ability.
This cam was picked for its early Horsepower delivery and the aggressive chop chop Harley riders are always chasing. The goal was usable power all the way through the RPM range, plus strong roll-on power. It's designed to bolt directly in Factory M8 107"/114" and 117".
Why the Cycle-Rama 483 Cam is a Great Match for the Street Glide
The Cycle-Rama 483 cam has earned its reputation for delivering excellent real-world performance on the Milwaukee-Eight platform. It is especially well-suited for heavier Touring models like the Street Glide that benefit from power delivery all the way through the rpm range.
The 483 cam is known for:
Strong low- and mid-RPM torque
Improved throttle response and acceleration
Broad powerband that stays street-friendly
Excellent compatibility with stock components
Delivers that heavy CHOP CHOP CHOP sound
For riders who want their bike to pull harder without sacrificing smoothness or longevity, the CR483 is a proven choice.
Exhaust & Air Cleaner: Supporting the 483 Cam’s Powerband
A camshaft upgrade is only as good as the air intake and exhaust supporting it. The SP Concepts exhaust system was chosen to complement the Cycle-Rama 483 cam’s torque-focused powerband plus bonus points for the style on that new Black Onyx finish. It was also paired with the S&S Stealth Air Stinger Teardrop Air Cleaner.
This exhaust setup:
Reduces exhaust restriction
Improves scavenging for better cylinder fill
Enhances throttle response throughout the RPM range
Delivers a deep, aggressive tone without excessive harshness
The sound matches the performance. Deep at idle, aggressive under throttle, and clean on deceleration.
Offers more filter surface area
Increased air flow can provide ~55% gain over a factory filter
Utilizes a washable element for longer use
Looks damn good - we love the classic Teardrop style
How the Bike Feels After the Upgrade
Final Numbers: 120 HP / 131 TQ SAE
Final Numbers: 124 HP / 135 TQ STD
Above you'll see two Dyno Chart - SAE and STD. SAE corrected numbers account for temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure using a more conservative formula, which typically results in lower but more realistic horsepower and torque figures. STD corrected numbers use a less restrictive correction factor and usually show higher power numbers, which is why SAE is generally preferred for accurate comparisons, while STD is often used to display peak gains.
