The Outlaw Bandit Helmet from Simpson is another in their lineup of tough looking Bandits. We tested it out with an Iridium shield, but note that the helmet ships standard with a clear face shield.

The Outlaw is at the midrange of Simpson's current Bandit lineup and fits nicely into the middle spot in terms of price and features, with an aerodynamic design and a wide viewport for solid visibility. You'll notice of course the typical aggressive chin bar and the edgy nose of the Outlaw Bandit, which are Simpson trademarks.

With both Snell M2015 and DOT certification, the Outlaw is built with safety in mind from a company that specializes in race car helmets. It's got a nice, lightweight feel to it with composite fiberglass construction and weighs in at 3 lbs 5 oz. in a size medium. Stylistically, the helmet features a few ridges up top aimed at creating a more aerodynamic design to minimize lift for riders looking to hit higher speeds.

A simple pin lock keeps the shield locked down in place. It's certainly not an advanced design, but it works. To swap out the shield, you'll need a screwdriver, but it's a process that shouldn't take more than a couple minutes.

We found the helmet fit true to size - though we'd encourage you to consult the product page for a size chart to find the best fit for your head. The Outlaw does ship with an extra set of cheek pads to help riders customize the fit if you need a bit more room. The well-padded antimicrobial liner is removable so you can wash it if necessary.

Featuring a retro style and a comfortable interior, many riders will look past the fact that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. Simpson could do something about the chin strap - they added a button lock on the Ghost Bandit, but for the Outlaw you'll have to simply tuck it in or get creative. If premium ventilation is a concern, you may want to bump up to the Ghost Bandit, but on our test ride the Outlaw kept the air moving OK through the three mouth vents on either side.

We think it's a versatile looking helmet that could fit with the cruiser or Harley crowd, or even cross over to sport bike riders - really anyone seeking a tough looking lid.

We took a spin in the Matte Black Outlaw, but it's also available in Gloss White and Gloss Black to best fit your style and bike. Like every product, we'll ship the helmet with fast, free shipping on us.
