Icon 1000 Basehawk Jacket Review - Hooded and Packed with Features
The Icon 1000 Basehawk Jacket is a hybrid jacket with a lot of features packed in, making it both a versatile, casual option. It's a jacket you can easily and confidently wear on or off your bike.

One of the first things you'll notice about this jacket is the comfort and easy range of movement it offers. It's blacked out, but has nice details all around that help it standout vs. your run of the mill hooded softshell. You'll find Icon 1000 patches on each upper arm and above each one are zippered shoulder vents that provide a great spot to keep the air moving. Diagonal chest pockets can add another vent point if you don't want to store anything away in them. Icon rounds out the upper half of the Basehawk jacket with underarm vents for even more airflow.
You've also got a couple hip zip pockets - which offer a fleece lining to keep your hands warm if you're out in the cold. Elastic thumb loops at each cuff help keep your sleeves down while you ride.
Icon also packed their full D3O impact protection package into the jacket - to keep your elbows, shoulders and back safe.
With basic waterproofing construction which includes waterproof sealed zippers, Icon considers this a Level 1 water resistant jacket. The Basehawk will keep you dry if you get caught in the rain for a short time, but it most likely will not stand up during a long ride in a heavy down pour.
The hood is a nice feature that is both functional and stylish. A quick cinch on either side will keep the hood secure so you don't have to worry about it flapping in the wind while you ride.
Open up the Basehawk and you'll find an interior zip pocket, a headphone pass through, plus a bonus mesh pocket on the other side. You can also cinch the bottom of the jacket tight if you need a secure fit.
What stands out first is the style of the Basehawk, but we appreciate the many features Icon packed into it - adding plenty of details that riders will appreciate.
