The Race of Gentlemen Enjoys Beautiful 2016 Wildwood Weekend

The gates opened at 9am on Saturday morning in Wildwood, with both racers and spectators quickly gathering along the Atlantic shoreline to be a part of a weekend celebration of American racing heritage. Vintage cars and motorcycles showed off their old time beauty as each racer lined up at the 5th annual Race of Gentlemen to race down the water's edge.
Surf, sand and some good old vintage racing makes this event truly something special to witness. TROG goes to great lengths and takes prides in bringing time period correct beach racing from the 1920 through the 1940's back to life. In their own words - "We love our American racing heritage and The Race of Gentlemen is a living breathing celebration of that history filled with action and fun for all!"

As old time classics gain popularity in today's market - it's exciting to see these old machines being revived to race once again. It's not everyday you get to enjoy a vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycle or an old-school Indian ripping it down the beach.
After last year's weather challenges due to Hurricane Joaquin, the crew moved the event from October to June to dodge another big storm. We had the pleasure of taking it all in Saturday and really enjoyed the day. The weather was perfect, making for a great day for both the racers and spectators.
New to the lineup this year was the Wall of Death - a nail biting event that combines skill and guts to give you an acrobatic thrill on two wheels. The races took place most of the day Saturday and Sunday starting around 10am and ending around 6pm - with only occasional breaks to groom the beach. Spectators were treated to live music, food, as well as commentary from a boisterous announcer that made sure you were having a good time. Racers competed bracket style in both the car and motorcycle category with only one machine from each category to be titled as the winner on Sunday.
TROG East was definitely a success this year. For all those living along the west coast - get ready. TROG has announced they will be hosting a TROG west this year at Grover Beach on October 15 & 16.
