Can an air filter alone give you any performance improvement out of a stock motor? That's what we decided to test out on our 2020 Harley Road Glide. This is one of many products we will be testing on the laundry list of upgrades we have planned for this bike. We decided to go with one of the most well recognized names and products in the industry, the Arlen Ness Big Sucker Air Cleaner.
This kit is designed to fit 2017-2020 Harley Electra Glide, Road King, Street Glide and Road Glide models. Arlen Ness also offers the Big Sucker Air Cleaner kit for most Harley models from 1984-Up.
This filter specifically would be considered the "Best Bang for your Buck" in terms of air filter upgrades. It features 200% more surface area then the factory filter and has a tapered bottom resulting in more filter surface area then any other performance intake option designed to fit the 2017-up factory cover. The improved breathing system also eliminates oil issues associated with M-Eight engines by directing any excess breather oil back into the engine. Each kit includes one-piece backing plate, breather tubes, performance filter, filter top, gaskets, oil reservoir and necessary hardware
Before we installed the Big Sucker Air Cleaner on the Road Glide we did a Dyno run with our stock setup. We started out with 80 hp / 107 tq. If you check out the chart below, after we installed the Big Sucker Kit we were up to 83 hp / 109 tq. Not a bad gain with just a simple easy bolt-on product. Check out the video below for the install and Dyno footage.
